Important information about creating teacher accounts on the PERL Microsoft Settlement Data Collection website.

View the informational Powerpoint from the August series of ICN sessions below.

PERL Data Collection website: http://db.perl.hs.iastate.edu/microsoft

Access the entire the step- by-step manual for both teachers and principals here: manual.pdf  This manual has step-by-step instructions as well as screen shots and will be a great help with walking you through the set-up process.

NOTE TO PRINCIPALS:

1. The initial setup requires action on your part because your email address has been entered into the PERL website. You will need to log-in with your email address and create a password (first time only) and then go to your email account to confirm your identity.

2. Then you will need to create accounts for the teachers who will be entering data in your target area. You may want to have a copy of your Microsoft Application on hand as the data collection information must reflect what you indicated you would do on your application. You will also need the school email address and teacher folder number for each teacher participating in the MS target area. See the attached manual.pdf for complete information!

3. Once you've done that, inform your teachers.

4. They will need to do a similar type of log-in the first time, create a password and then confirm in email.

5. The teacher site opens Oct. 1. For each month that you are involved in the program, those teachers will need to log-in and enter data. The data points have been pre-populated according to what your application indicated would be the teacher strategies, software and hardware you would be using.

6. Teachers have until the end of each month to provide input and edits for the previous month. For example, teachers should enter their September data in October, which is what they should start to do now if you have begun implementing your MS program and expenditures.

7. Teachers will need to update the PERL website monthly from the start of your Microsoft funded project until its completion.

The intention of this wiki is to provide schools within Keystone AEA 1 with a central data base containing  guidance, resources, recommendations, suggestions, tips and hints to successfully and painlessly navigate not only the initial application process but also to help ensure successful alignment/integration with implementation of the Iowa Core.

Be sure to check the links in the SideBar to the right for more detailed information about the settlement and ideas for implementation in your building.

Let us know what Keystone AEA 1 can do to help you with both the application process and technology curricular integration with the Iowa Core. We are here to help!

Don't forget to contact Keystone when planning your Technology Integration Professional Development sessions. Research has shown the importance of current professional development emphasizing hands-on technology use (Fatemi, 1999; Office of Technology Assessment, 1995; Panel on Educational Technology, 1997).  A well-planned, ongoing professional development program that is tied to the school's curriculum goals, designed with built-in evaluation, and sustained by adequate financial and staff support is essential if teachers are to use technology appropriately to promote learning for all students in the classroom.
